Fire at car Kilsyth wreckers

POLICE believe cars that caught fire at a Kilsyth car wreckers overnight were torched.

Nine cars were destroyed and 10 more were damaged in a fire at the Pick-A-Part car wrecking yard on Fussell Rd, which took hold just after midnight.

It is possible some intact cars were torched, as this is where the council takes cars that have been towed.

CFA crews had to force entry after they couldn’t contact anyone on an out-of-hours number.

While firefighters initially thought they would have to guard dogs to contend with, the dogs weren’t there last night.

It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The fires are being treated as suspicious and it is not known how the blazes started.
