Change your clock, change your smoke alarm battery on Sunday 1st April

It's that time of year again... as summer and daylight saving come to an end, it's time to make sure household smoke alarms are in good working order. If you have a battery operated alarm, now is the time to replace the battery.

 Working smoke alarms save lives.

Smoke alarms have a limited life. The date of manufacture and/or replacement is displayed on the alarm. Replace each alarm after 10 years. Building regulations state that every home in Victoria must have a smoke alarm complying with Australian Standard AS3786. Only choose a smoke alarm that meets standard. CFA urges all householders to replace or supplement their existing ionisation smoke alarms with photo-electric alarms. Ensure you and your family have and practise a Home Fire Escape Plan.
