Major Milestones

  • 1938 9th of November The Montrose Bush Fire Brigade registered class F Brigade (Central Region)
  • 1939 Montrose Bush Fire Brigade heavily involved in devastating fires.
  • 1943 Purchased first major piece of fire-fighting equipment - a Furphy.
  • 1944 Acquisition of the brigades’ first vehicle - a run-down ex-allied (army) works council truck.
  • 1945 Lilydale council approves the construction of the fire station at the rear of the Montrose public hall.
  • 1963 First CFA issued vehicle - Bedford Small Town Tanker.
  • 1966 Fire station expanded to accomodate new tanker.
  • 1969 Brigade purchased a 600-gallon tanker.
  • 1974 Montrose Urban Fire Brigade formed.
  • 1984 Montrose Fire Brigade relocates to new station on Mt Dandenong rd.
